The Austin Central Library will feature a kite exhibit starting May 6

AUSTIN, TX – An exhibit of dozens of artist-created kites representing the connection between water and life in Texas will be on display at the Austin Central Library.
Starting May 6, the Sacred Springs Kite Exhibit is expected to hook library visitors in the Central Library’s six-story atrium. This exhibit is a collaboration between the Austin Public Library, Art4Water, a program of the Watershed Association, and Terry Zee Lee, a national facilitator and curator of kite exhibits and events.
“The Austin Central Library, located where Shoal Creek empties into Lady Bird Lake and about a mile from Barton Springs, is the perfect place for the community to experience an exhibit about the connection between Texas waters and our lives,” said Roosevelt, director of the Austin Public Library. Weeks. “We are proud to be able to host these beautiful works of art in our space and connect the community to the important messages of these artists.”
The kites in the exhibit were selected from submissions from over 200 artists.
The exhibit is free and open to the public from May 6 and will run through November 2022. A free reception is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on May 6 at the Central Library.
