People head to the coast to enjoy Memorial Day weekend
Lots of people head to the coast to spend time at the beach over Memorial Day weekend, but many said the crowds at Pismo Beach this year seemed a bit smaller than on holiday weekends before. the pandemic.
“I was just going to relax and enjoy, well, we were going to enjoy the weather. It (the fog) is not yet broken. Just enjoy the great food and the ambiance, ”said David Macie, a resident of Fremont.
“I guess I went through this time last year, saw a guy playing saxophone and we loved it, so I said ‘I’m going to bring my wife back and have a good time’, so that ‘ is what we are doing, ”said Steve Bekowski of New Orleans.
KSBY has also checked in with some local restaurants and despite the crowds they say business is down this weekend compared to previous Memorial Day weekends.
“We arrived last night, evening, and there was hardly any traffic here, which is really nice this time of year, especially on a holiday weekend,” said Steve Macie, a resident of Fremont.
For some, visiting during Memorial Day weekend is a tradition even if it seems a little different this year.
“I do this trip twice a year and regardless, I’m not disappointed,” said Bahman Engheta of Santa Monica.

“Obviously there are times in the year, parts of the year, where it’s more chaotic. You live here quite a long time and you kind of know where to park, when to come,” said Carpentier.
Fog remained for most of the day at Pismo Beach, but that didn’t stop people from flying kites, picnicking, and spending time on the coast with fewer COVID-restrictions. 19 in place.
