Lyle Pratt – Grand Forks Herald
Lyle “Took” Pratt, 96 of Northwood, ND, died surrounded by family on August 22, 2022 at NDHC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Lyle Stanford Pratt was born on May 20, 1926, to Bert and Bessie (Benson) Pratt in Devils Lake, North Dakota. He was affectionately nicknamed “Took” as a baby, and the name stuck. The family moved to Northwood in 1939, after a brief stay in Larimore. Taken attended Northwood School and graduated after 8th grade. He was an accomplished carpenter and built over 60 homes, working first with his father and then with his brother, Bob. Pris married Corinne Thingelstad in 1950. Soon after, he was drafted into the US Army and served two years in Germany. He was welcomed home by his son Randy, and later another son Robin and daughter Carrie joined the family. Corinne died in 1972.
Taken married Doris Grund in 1981 and had two more children, Karla and Jon.
He loved inventing things in his garage workshop, building and flying kites, spending time with his grandchildren and cuddling great-grandchildren. His storytelling and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Lyle is survived by his children: Randy (Barb) Pratt, Mitchell, SD, Robin (Dixie) Pratt, Northwood, ND; Carrie (Tom) McDonald, East Grand Forks, MN; Karla (Kevin) Johnson, Vallejo, Calif.; Jon (Rhonda) Grund, Laguna Hills, CA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his sister Ruth Jacobson, Northwood, ND.
He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Bessie Pratt, his wife Corinne Pratt, his wife Doris Pratt, his sisters Donna Johnson and Betty Pratt, his brothers Robert and Duane Pratt, his daughter-in-law Naomi Pratt and his great-grandchild. -son Howard Enright.
