INDIA and Germany are on the same wavelength on Afghanistan issues and the two countries will see closer cooperation in this regard, German Ambassador to India Walter J Lindner said on Sunday. “India is a very big player there (in Afghanistan) … involved in a lot of development projects and Germany has been very active (there) over the past 20 years. So we both share pretty much the same principles, ”Lindner said at an event to mark the 31st anniversary of German reunification. He unveiled a symbolic painting on a large wall of the iconic Sheila Theater in Paharganj here illustrating the friendship between India and Germany. Lindner said both countries support the previous government in Afghanistan and try to help it move forward and improve the situation, especially for women, in the country. “We are all surprised by the rapid advance of the Taliban. Now we have to face this situation. We still have to get people out of Afghanistan talking to the Taliban.
We still have a humanitarian crisis to prevent in Afghanistan through the United Nations. “We have certain conditions under which we speak to the Taliban – an inclusive government that is not there yet. But it is still necessary to have a kind of dialogue to move forward on these points. India is on the same wavelength. Thus, we will see closer cooperation between us, ”he said. The German envoy said that the economy, environmental protection, green energy, student exchanges, science and technology and artificial intelligence will be the key areas of the upcoming India-Germany partnership. . Walter J Lindner said that today is an important day for Germany, as East Germany and West Germany were reunited 31 years ago on this day.
