‘Genshin Impact’ Lantern Rite Event Guide and How to Get Yun Jin for Free

It’s that time of the year again, bringing us the Genshin Impact Lantern Rite event. Liyue Harbor’s floating night light and mini-game festival is pretty vibrant this time around, with events ranging from guessing games to sea rescue to battling a literal storm god. The rewards also look pretty decent, with free four-star character Yun Jin on offer and Ningguang’s new outfit. Either way, it’s a nice break from Enkanomiya.
Ganyu and Zhongli are also back for their replays, and with the ten free Intertwined Fates you can claim as a login bonus, you’ll have that extra chance to draw either. Along with character and outfit rewards, there are also shops and currencies for each mini-game, as well as challenges, meaning there’s plenty on offer.
In this Genshin Impact Lantern Rite Guide, I’ll walk you through what you need to know about the annual Festival of Enlightenment, how each of the events work, and most importantly, how to get your hands on this free character and the new fantasy threads of Ningguang.
How the Genshin Impact Lantern Rite event work?
As with the previous event, this year’s Lantern Rite consists of several challenges and questlines, each with its own currency and range of rewards:
The great gathering
If you want to nab some of the fancy furniture in the Jade Pavilion while playing with treasure collectors, this might be your thing. Now that the flawless new Jade Pavilion is flying in the sky above Liyue Port, Ningguang tasks us with heading to Guyun Stone Forest to retrieve the missing furniture and decorations from the old Jade Pavilion that has was destroyed at the end of Liyue Archon’s Quest—who knows why she only remembers it?
With Beidou and Xinyan in tow, you’ll take part in three different challenges: Interrogation by Night, Curio Salvage, and Midpoint Interception. The first involves clearing Treasure Hoarder camps and using firecrackers to weaken them, the second is simply grabbing decorations floating around Guyun in your Waverider, and the last requires you to destroy a balloon, similar to the Danger commission Haul.
It’s an easy event, but you don’t need its currency to recruit a free character, and the rewards you can buy are all furniture, so it might seem pointless if you’re not using the Serenitea Pot. Still, the intro part of the quest is fun, and you can try out Beidou, which might be worth it if you consider her your chosen free character.
Flamefeather Starflowers
While I’m a little sad that Yoimiya hasn’t appeared as part of this fireworks display (at least not yet), it’s a great excuse to gather some friends and create your own custom pyrotechnic display. Ningguang gives us a launch tube gadget that we can place to melt fireworks and set up displays. The merging process may seem confusing at first, but here’s how:
- Each firework has three sections you can select: color, height and size
- These three each have their own ideal setting, marked by the colored bar section at the bottom of the screen.
- If you are using Single Smelt you will notice that the bar will fill with white towards this line
- Your goal is to fill each bar with this ideal setting
- You can change the amount of white that fills the bar by combining different “blending techniques” in the top right
- Once you have reached these perfect settings, you can claim all rewards and type of fireworks from the event menu
Setting up your own screens also requires the launch tube, but playing with the explosives is just as fun.
marvelous shadows
The simplest Lantern Rite event, Wondrous Shadows is a guessing game where you have to move and spin a shadow to figure out what it is before time runs out. If this game really isn’t your idea of a good time, here are the answers to all three that have been posted so far, so you know what to look out for:
If you’re struggling, you can also get a hint at the bottom left of the screen. This event earns you Affluence Talismans, one of the two currencies you need to recruit the free character.
ocean defender
This event has yet to be released at the time of writing, but based on artwork and what we know, it will be a challenge boss similar to the Whopperflower in the Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event. This time, we’ll revisit the Beisht boss fight from Shenhe’s recent quest and complete the challenges around it to earn Conquest Talismans. It’s one of the two currencies you need to recruit a free character, so be sure to participate when it drops in a few days.
How to get Yun Jin for free
As part of the Lantern Rite event, you can use Prosperous Partnerships to invite a four-star character from Liyue to your party. Here are the proposed characters, as well as their element and their weapon:
- Xiangling – Pyro Polearm
- Beidou – Electro Claymore
- Xingqiu – Hydro Sword
- Ningguang – Geocatalyst
- Zhongyun -Cryo claymore
- Xinyan – Pyroclaymore
- Yunjin – Geo Polearm
- Yanfei – Pyrocatalyst
To recruit a character, you’ll need to earn 1,000 Affluence Talismans from Wondrous Shadows, which you can already do, and 1,000 Conquest Talismans from the Oceanic Defender Challenge when it opens. In terms of who to choose, it depends on what you currently need for your party. Xiangling is a very good sub-DPS, but you can already get it for free in Spiral Abyss. If you don’t have Xingqiu at all, I highly recommend you do, because he’s a fantastic supporting character.
How to get the Ningguang Orchid Evening Dress Outfit
Keqing’s Opulent Splendor Outfit Released At The Beginning Of Genshin Impact 2.4, but you can get Ningguang’s Orchid Evening Dress for free as part of the Lantern Rite. It’s basically a completion reward, requiring you to earn cash from each event in order to claim it, so there’s at least a reason to do the Great Gathering even if you don’t want the furniture. .
That’s all for that Genshin Impact Guide to the Rite of Lanterns. We hope you have fun at the event!
