Chelsea consider late loan for Saul Niguez as he seeks to get rid of marginal midfielders
Chelsea have offered new contracts to Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger as the club try to secure the future of two of their center-backs.
And the European champions are considering a late loan for Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid, waiting to see if they receive any offers for their marginal midfielders.
Christensen is believed to be close to accepting his new long-term contract, while Rudiger has been offered an extension of his contract at Stamford Bridge – just 12 months after considering leaving.
Both players have entered the final year of their contracts and Chelsea want to reward their excellent form under the guidance of head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Rudiger and Christensen have both been integral to Chelsea’s Champions League success under Tuchel and started the club’s first two Premier League games, keeping the sheets clean against Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
Chelsea came close to selling Rudiger last summer, when the German was out of favor under Frank Lampard, while Christensen became a target for European clubs as his future was uncertain.
But Christensen, 25, is close to signing at Chelsea and the Dane could be followed by Rudiger if the 28-year-old accepts the club’s offer.
Chelsea remain interested in signing Seville’s Jules Kounde if he can sell Kurt Zouma, who has held talks with West Ham United over a move to London.
If Zouma agrees to join the Hammers for around £ 25million, Chelsea will look to sign Kounde this month. But the Blues could also strike a deal for next year if Zouma, whose personal conditions could be an issue for West Ham, do not leave, with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta, 36, also in the final year of their contracts. .
