Boeing, ESG and Lufthansa Technik are partners for the potential support of the German P-8A Poseidon fleet
BERLIN – Boeing signed agreements on June 17 with ESG (Elektroniksystem-und Logistik-GmbH) and Lufthansa Technik that outline joint efforts to explore potential areas of collaboration in systems integration, training, support and maintenance, Boeing said in a statement. The signed MoU could lead to more definitive agreements if Germany chooses the P-8A Poseidon as the next maritime surveillance aircraft.

Boeing, ESG and Lufthansa Technik have identified opportunities for collaboration in a number of areas and will explore them in more detail, including training and simulation, cybersecurity, systems integration, certification, environmental compliance, communications systems, electronic attacks and electronic protection systems, aircraft and engine maintenance, component support services, predictive maintenance analysis and logistics services.

Lufthansa Technik has a long history of providing technical support for Boeing aircraft around the world. In addition, as part of Boeing’s performance-based logistics program, Lufthansa Technik also provides material support to the Italian fleet of Boeing KC-767A refuellers and facilitated exceptional availability of aircraft for the Air Force. The P-8A Poseidon offers a unique multi-mission aircraft capability and is the only aircraft in service and production capable of meeting the full range of maritime challenges facing European countries. With the P-8A, Germany will be able to take advantage of full integration and interoperability with NATO countries in the region. In addition, the P-8A provides an important capability to meet Germany’s collective defense obligations as part of Germany’s NATO membership and commitment to the defense and security of the EU, including the maritime domain.
