1,572 criminals detained
Rawalpindi: Police in Potohar Division in their crackdown on drug traffickers, declared offenders (POs) and other criminals have arrested 1,572 defendants in the past five months.
According to a police spokesperson, the police in their successful operations dismantled 33 gangs and arrested their 102 members in addition to recovering 56 pistols, 32 vehicles, 69 motorcycles and money in their possession.
The police also arrested 330 POs, including 37 category A criminals and 293 category B criminals from different sectors of the division.
Police under the supervision of Police Superintendent (SP) Potohar on the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younas raided various areas and arrested 331 for possession of illegal weapons, a he added.
Police registered 230 cases against the accused and recovered 10 Kalashnikovs, four rifles / rifles, 293 pistols, four daggers and ammunition.
Police arrested 325 drug traffickers and recovered 131 kg of charas, 7 kg of heroin and 1752 liters of alcohol.
311 cases were recorded in the various police stations of the division.
He said police in their crackdown on gamers gathered 71 and registered 15 cases.
More than Rs 244,000 in cash, 61 cell phones and other items were recovered in their possession.
Likewise, the police on the directives of the CPO also launched a crackdown on violators of the bans on flying kites and arrested 383 against which 304 cases were recorded.
Police recovered a large number of kites and rolls of kite ropes in their possession.
Nine cases were also recorded against 10 Sound System Act violators during the period, the spokesperson informed.
395 of whom 331 were arrested for possession of illegal weapons, 325 drug traffickers, 71 gamblers, 383 kite-flying ban violators, 330 OP and other violators have been arrested in the last five months.
